Dear Colleagues:
With Valentine's Day now a mere memory of
candy hearts and kisses (chocolate, of course), GLAC adventures and
challenges continue. With thanks to all, our 2008 Annual Report is now
posted on the website. I am particularly pleased to note we achieved
positive fiscal results without a bailout of any kind. We also made
progress in a number of other areas so please take a moment to
review the
summary. Credit for these accomplishments is widespread – from Board
members, Sponsors, our Maple Street team, Webmaster, and Volunteers... to you
- the membership.
The 2009 GLAC Board has also reaffirmed its
commitment to fiscal responsibility in the creation of this year's budget and if
Washington calls, we’re ready to advise them on how to do the same.
I'm pleased to advise GLAC and its membership
are the recipients of a generous offer from The Regency Club, a
well known private social club located in Westwood. The details of this
unique opportunity are detailed in the
attached letter from the Club's General
Manager. If you are not familiar with the Regency Club and its facilities,
please visit www.theregencyclub.com.
I hope some of you will be able to take advantage of this offer to the benefit
of your organizations.
From time to time the GLAC office receives calls
from search consultants seeking candidate referrals. For those of you
presently on search, if you would send your name, primary contact number and
level of position you are interested in (entry, middle or senior) to
Brenda@maplestreet.org, we will compile a list of referrals for such occasions.
This service is for GLAC members only. We are not screening positions so
please do not forward your resume.
We would also like to extend a warm welcome to
our newest members. Please be sure to introduce yourself and
welcome them at the Roundtable events.
My thanks for your help and support as we adjust
to these ever changing times. Even if some of us aren’t Irish, I hope "the
luck of the Irish" is yours throughout the year, but who knew the Blarney Stone
had been relocated to Wall Street? See you at the March Regional
Roundtables and please bring your sense of humor.
