Dear Colleagues:
Happy New Year or Gung Hay Fat Choy as translated by the AFP
Hong Kong chapter with whom I was fortunate enough to visit during the
holidays. As part of the delegation that went to Hong Kong and
Beijing, it was both an amazing professional exchange opportunity and
extraordinary travel adventure. A bit brisk at 9 below zero during our
visit to the Forbidden City; however, most of the time the weather was
cooperative, the food outstanding and the people extremely hospitable.
Not nearly enough time to take everything in - but enough to realize I now need
to return.
This will be another challenging year so I know you'll want to join us on
February 10th, as Fred Ali, President of the Weingart Foundation gives us
his valuable perspective. I also want to thank Maxene Johnston, President,
of Johnston and Company and John Crowe of CroweStrategies for starting the
year off with a host of valuable tips on redefining and refining career
goals and strategies. We'll try to include a bit more focus on some of
these individual issues this year in addition to our broader topical
interests.
Our 40th Anniversary celebration was a big success and my thanks to each
of you who attended. We got a lot of positive feedback about the opportunity
to simply "network" which we frequently don't have much time
for, so we're going to offer another such opportunity prior to our
July luncheon meeting, in addition to December.
Please also consider volunteering this year for either a committee or
task force; GLAC can use the help and it's another chance to expand your
contacts.

volunteering for a committee or task force.
Thank you all for your continuing commitment to GLAC; we are definitely
stronger for it. The Board is facing forward with chocolate in hand,
our sense of humor ever-present and our hopes high for a sublime '09.
It remains my privilege to represent you as President.
