Membership Benefits
  • AFP International Benefits of Membership

  • Networking and Education – Meetings are held the second Tuesday of the month offering members an excellent opportunity to meet other development professionals representing the diverse fundraising community within the Greater Los Angeles area. Non-members are welcome and encouraged to attend. Please check our Events Calendar for upcoming featured speakers and topics.

  • Chapter Meetings – Chapter meetings are held at the Cathedral Center in downtown Los Angeles. In addition to a luncheon speaker, we also offer a Professional Development Seminar in advance of the luncheon meeting. These sessions begin at 10:15 a.m. and feature speakers who may cover more technically specific topics of interest. Our single price covers the Professional Development Seminar, the luncheon meeting and parking.  Meetings generally conclude around 1:30 p.m.

  • Local Roundtables – These regional luncheon meetings are held in March, June and October at various locations in the San Gabriel Valley, Downtown Los Angeles, Westside, and Long Beach areas. Please check the website for specific meeting details.

  • Regional Philanthropy Conference – Held in June as plans permit, this two-day intensive program offers the training and tools development professionals need to develop their skills and knowledge.

  • CRFE Credits – Attendance at Chapter meetings, professional development seminars, local roundtables and the Regional Philanthropy Conference may qualify for CFRE credits. For the latest  information on CFRE requirements, please check their website at www.cfre.org .

  • Audio-conferences - GLAC offers audio-conferences to our membership free of charge. Please check the website for details on current offerings.

  • Volunteering – The Greater Los Angeles Chapter is one of the larger AFP chapters and believes we have a commitment to lead. Therefore, many of our activities encourage volunteerism in order to provide hands-on leadership training. We invite you to become an active participant in the chapter as a volunteer. All of our events are considerable undertakings and dependent upon a solid volunteer base. We also invite chapter members to consider Board Service through our online Nominations Process, but view committee service as an essential prerequisite to a leadership role. If you are interested in volunteering, please email office@afpglac.org or call the Chapter office at 714-744-3783 to express your interest and one of our committee chairs will contact you directly.

  • Scholarships – GLAC offers a small number of scholarships to the International Conference and the Regional Philanthropy Conference as appropriate.

  • National Philanthropy Day - The Greater Los Angeles chapter serves as the host organization for the National Philanthropy Day event held in November. This celebration recognizes a number of individuals and organizations who represent the best of Philanthropy in the Los Angeles community. Details regarding nominations as well as specific dates and times can be found on our website in advance of the event.

  • eSlate - Our electronic newsletter is distributed monthly as well as posted on our website.

  • Consultants' Directory - GLAC offers the opportunity for individuals and organizations offering services to the nonprofit community to market them through our Consultants' Directory. Details regarding the Directory are available though the website.

  • Job Postings - Organizations seeking the skills of development professionals are encouraged to post their job openings on the GLAC website. Additional notification via individual email blasts is also available.
