Membership Benefits and Criteria
  • Networking and Education – Meetings are held the second Tuesday of the month offer members an excellent opportunity to meet other development professionals representing the diverse fund raising community within the Greater Los Angeles area. Non-members are welcome to attend. Please check our calendar for this year's featured speakers and topics.

  • Chapter Meetings – Cathedral of Our Lady of Angels in Los Angeles. In addition to a luncheon speaker, we present a Professional Development Seminar featuring speakers who cover a variety of topics of interest.  Please check our calendar for this year's featured speakers and topics.

  • Local Luncheon Roundtables – held in April and October in the San Gabriel Valley, Downtown Los Angeles, Westside, and Long Beach. Please check our calendar for meeting locations.

  • Regional Philanthropy Conference – Held in June every two years, this two-day intensive program offers the training and tools development professionals need to develop their skills and knowledge.

  • CRFE Credits – Attendees to chapter meetings, Local Luncheon Roundtables, and the Regional Philanthropy Conference quality for CFRE credits. For more information on certification.

  • Discounts – Membership entitles you to discounted registration fees to all of the educational opportunities that AFP sponsors, from the monthly Chapter meetings to Fundraising Day in L.A. to the International Conference on Fundraising.

  • Mentoring Program – Professional volunteers who are willing to provide mentorship to GLAC members at no cost.

  • Resources – In addition to the AFP-International's Fundraising Resource Center, please visit AFP-International's Membership Benefits page.

  • Volunteering – GLAC is one of the largest chapters in the world and has a wonderful core of volunteers. We invite you to become an active participant in the chapter as a volunteer. Events such as the Regional Philanthropy Conference and National Philanthropy Day are huge undertakings and are dependent upon a solid volunteer corp.  If you are interested in volunteering, please email info@afpglac.org or call the Chapter office at 714-744-3783 and one of our committee chairs will contact you shortly.

  • Scholarships – GLAC is able to offer a limited number of Education Advancement Grants and/or Scholarships to the following programs:

    Membership Criteria

    Active:  Open to persons who have had at least one (1) year of experience at the time of application as fundraising professional, are self-employed or associated with an organization, institution or firm and are compensated for his/her services.  Active members hold some degree of accountability for income-generation within the philanthropic process; estimated at least a quarter of their time is spent on fundraising related responsibilities; subscribe to the AFP Code of Ethical Principles and Standards of Professional Practice ("Code") and its bylaws; promote the Donor Bill of Right and, are employed or have been employed by an institution or organization that provides benefits to society.
     
    Introductory:  Open to persons newly employed in the field; full-time students in a degree-granting, certificate or diploma program; members who work for grassroots organizations with an operating budget of $250,000 or less; executive directors who spend less than 25% of their time on fundraising related responsibilities; and volunteers.  All must subscribe to the AFP Code of Ethical Principles and Standards of Professional Practice and its bylaws and promote the "Donor Bill of Rights.  Membership in this category is limited to a two-year duration.
     
    Affiliate:  May be extended to persons who are engaged in field related to fundraising, volunteers, or those who have mutual interests with fundraising professionals, and who subscribe to the AFP Code of Ethical Principles and Standards of Professional Practice and its bylaws; and promote the Donor Bill of Rights.
